England,up norf...
I picked up my weekly copy of mcn yesterday standing at the till getting excited cos big feature of new v4 is promised inside, anyway off to work looking forward to dinner time so i can read all about it, lunch time came started reading only to be devastated,Aprilia spokesman said that the V4 will become Aprilia's flagship bike when the RSV is discontinued later in 2008,looks like its the end of an era boys and girls....:bawling:bawling:bawling

I would'nt panic,as it was in mcn theres a good chance its a load of bo**ocks.some time last year mcn interviewed the head of aprilia about the v4,asking when it would be launched and would it be the end of the rsv.he said that the rsv would continue as the cheaper aprilia sports bike while the v4 would become the (more expensive) flagship :dunno :dunno.im hoping this is the case,as the rsv sells very well for aprilia and it would seem strange for them to kill off a good earner.....

fingers crossed

I was under the impression, that as ginga says, the RSVR will become the base model however the capacity being increased to 1200cc using a new uprated v twin engine as is being used in bikes like the Shiver.

If aprilia decided to kill off the v twin route then they'll need a main stream sportsbike competetivley priced with the Japanese rivals and certainly undercutting Ducati. Maybe there'll be a £8995 list price V4. :dunno

It certainly wouldn't make sense to rely on the V4. Taking Ducati as an example, they have the 1098R and the DesmoRR but they still produce the standard 1098 and the 848. Financially they surely have to keep the RSV to have a bike in the affordable bracket?

it is not getting binned the v4 is the flagship and will only be in limited no's the rotax engine is getting canned and aprilia are making there own

:roll.............is this wise......after all they made the rear linkage and designed the rear brake and clutch.........think i'll stick with the rotax engine

I can understand Aprilia wanting a new flagship, but binning a perfectly good V-TWIN is in my opinion absurd. I'll wait and see...
