Took the cover off the bike today, all normal last night when I put it away.
Got on it pulled in the clutch...er somethings not right. started it up and the clutch was biting staight away. sure enought the clutch reservoir was empty...and full of black crude...(the previous garage that the last owner used highly not recommended)..
Filled it up, pumped it abit and it came back, but we`ll see tomorrow if it dropped again, hoping its not a seal, but then its not like clutch fluid gets used up now matter how old it is , is it?

Steve

If it's the seal then take the opportunity to fit an Oberon (or MPL) replacement slave. I have the Oberon and it makes the Mille clutch a lot more pleasant to live with, especially around town.

Speak to Tash, he can supply the Oberon at a good price.

Rob :)

Cheers rob. I`ll check it properly tomorrow. Have zero spare cash at the mo! But I will definitely look into the upgrade if it turns out to be the seal...

Steve

I think the black crud is ground up clutch slave seal dissolved in clutch fluid. My clutch fluid has not gone black since I replaced it when I fitted the new slave.

U think?? would it work its way up into the master cylinder reservoir!??

Does the oberon make it lighter? or in what way does it feel different? I find as it is, it can be very grabby as you release it in a lower gear when entering a bend hot, like you think its all the way out but it isnt.

Steve

I think the minced up seal **** does travel up back to the master cylinder. Don't forget that the bottom end is in a hot place and heat rises. My new fluid has been in over 2 months and looks like it just came out the bottle.

The Oberon makes it lighter and smoother action I reckon. See what other people say mate.

Rob :)

Your word is good enough for me matey. I`ll stick it on the list!!
Depending on what I find tomorrow, it may be at the top of the list!
It may have been weeping away fro ages, so we`ll see...
Cheers!

common for the fluid to turn black with standard M/C, go for an Oberon/MPL or Evo, clutch is far lighter and you wont get this happening again, keep your eye open for a secondhand one as they do come up (if cash is tight that is).

Note, with the standard set up you can replace all fluid and a week later it will be black again

within a 100 miles any hydraulic clutch fluid gets real dirty, although its obvoiuosly leaking from somewhere matey. I would, as been suggested , save up and get an aftermarket one they do imrpove feel and lighten the lever

How much we taking for one of these uprated jonnies then? new/secondhand??

ooOOooo, shiney...

Cheers Pat!

So Tash can get em abit cheaper can he??

I havent checked it today yet, so dont know how urgent it is..

if you quote rsv zone direct to mpl they were doing them for 90 quid

I paid Tash less than £90 delivered next day for the Oberon a couple of months ago. PM him on here for latest deal or ring Xtreme Performance Solutions (his gaff) on 01325778358 (mention that you are on rsvzone).

Rob :)

Thanks again Rob. Think it can wait til next month now though. Just went for a little spin and its not noticably different thank god!

But the oberon is on the list!

Thanks guys ;)

Mine leaked slowly at first and no sign of drips on the garage floor. I only needed to top it up about once a week to keep it running. It was like that for about a month but then it suddenly went downhill (i.e. mess on garage floor and difficult to disengage clutch fully) and that's when I took the plunge.

Rob :)

I can see mine taking a similar route!
well just got some news on my R6 I`m selling, So may treat myself to a 16tooth front sprocket and one of these ;)
