All excited about fitting the new exhaust today, so started cleaning it all up, thought i'd take the brass srews out the exhaust downpipes ready for sre-setting the co2 etc....

F*CKIN front pipe seized solid..............

P*ssed off now!!! So..... It looks like i'm gonna have to drill the hole out and tap it but is it brassfor a reason??? Can I get hold of a slightly bigger brass one from anywhere???

This is turning out to be a f*ckin pain in the arse now:angry:angry:angry:angry

Andi,I guess the allen key hole has rounded off ? If so could you drill thru with a smallish dia to relax the pressure on the threads ? as long as the hole is smaller than the thread tapping size you should be able to unwind it with an easyout or a left hand tap.

I've not taken mine out yet so I didn't realise they were brass, probably done that way to lessen the chance of them seizing up,or at least if they do they are sacrificial rather than taking out the thread in the boss.

I would guess Griff may have replacements in stock? I wouldn't want to tap oversize however.

yeah man got em in stock no problem
use a 1/8 BSP tap clear the threads and you'll be fine....

hopefully be fine for ya mate!!

Griffer!!

doddle to do mate if you got the tap and some drill bits

the brass is real soft, and the buggered up hex gives you a decent centre for the drill bit

for the life of me i cant remember if i had to take the front wheel out to get decent access for the drill tho! :dunno

have fun

Kev

Bleedin' eck Andi - I thought something really bad had happened - those front plugs sieze for a passtime, while the rear ones fall out! Good luck with getting it sorted:thumbup

Thanks all...........got it done eventually, pain in the arse but he-ho!! Just a culmination of wee probs this fecking twin system has brought on but we'll get there in the end!!!

I'm trailering the bike to my mates place (meercat exhausts) who're going to look into the link pipe situation but he reckons he could copy the Falco system in stainless and at 50-60mm for me for not a great deal more than the link pipes on they're own so looking at that possibilty!!!!................Tigcraft anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is his handy work!!!
