hi all

is there any known rear disk/calliper from any other bike that will fit the 2009 tuono which either goes straight on or needs only minor fettling? something i can source second hand to keep it cheap.

cheers

If your rear brake doesnt work well then its prob not the disk or caliper...... look up rearsets - this moves the rear brake cylinder and hey presto a working rear brake.
I think there are some second hand ones for sale either on here or the other chanel...

the only way to bleed the back brake is to remove the rear caliper and invert it so as the nipple is the highest point :crazy this is only a temp fix :no

The problem of the rear brake stems from the position of the master cylinder. Its been designed to work when upright,...usually bolted to the footrest hanger, like the TV4.Aprilia,in their wisdom, laid it down under the engine. Not only does it collect air bubbles when bleeding,...it it also effected from the heat of the motor and 'zorst.
Careful bleeding can bring the brake back, but its usually only temporary. The best solution is to fit some aftermarket rearsets that relocate the m/cyl.

Bleeding from back to front avoids removal of the calliper and does a better job, mine's been fine for a year! Must be worth a try, costs nothing, up to you.

this sounds like the best option to me thanks. bit miffed at aprilia though, buying all the best kit in then not locating it in the correct position on their bikes, in japan those designers responsible would have fallen on their swords for that.

been out today though and loved every minute of the bike, i suppose aprilia is a bit like hugh heffner he has all the young birds that are a bit high maintenance but the tightness and looks make up for it.:thumbup

The Aprilia Performance rearsets are more solid than the Gilles and are £100 cheaper.
