Is the Service Light set on Timer?

Hey All,

I was riding home last night when my service light came on. Does the light come on due to a millage timer or does this mean some machanical failure triggered it? The bike seems to be running just fine so I thought I would check in with you all. Thanks

Gen 1?
Service indicator usually comes on every 6200 miles or so.You can reset it by pressing the lap and R buttons together for 5 seconds.(ignition on.)
If there was a fault,I'm pretty sure the dash reads 'EFI'.

Yes, It is Gen 1. Thats great to hear. To confirm, unless the dash reads "EFI" the service light is probably on just due to the millage timer? Thanks again.
