Is my nose cone fairing bracket twisted?

I suspect it may be.

It's not a massive screaming problem, it's not really obvious unless you know where to look (clock infill panel doesn't line up, for example), but again, not a massive screaming problem, and it certainly doesn't bother me enough to want to pay to replace the nose fairing bracket.

However, I do wonder if it is bent, can it be bent back so that everything lines up again? Would I be able to do it without breaking it?

(Note: I've taken apart the left hand mirror and rebuilt it properly, so it now has the same range of movement as the right hand one. It was a problem, now it's not :) )
 
Is this a trick question :eatcorn if you look at the mirror, ball & socket mount you have fitted it on top of the fairing on the L/H side, it should go under the fairing & the ball part protrude through like on the R/H side :thumbup

That's how it came!

*rushes outside to look*

Both mirrors are mounted to the outside of the fairing dude. I'll see if I can change it so they're mounted to the inside, but the bracket would still be twisted.

Sorry hard to see the R/H mount properly, assumed the L/H one had been replaced incorrectly. If it was me I would remove the top fairing & try & bend the mount Back into position, it would bug the hell out of me. Here's how the mirrors should be mounted.

Does look bent to me. They're aluminium so straightening it is hard as it will snap. Best bet is to get a new one if it bothers you. Watch out for lock to lock problems with levers etc hitting clocks/trapping fingers too.
 
It doesn't bother me enough to make me want to get a new one, but it is definitely bent, as (now I've mounted the mirrors properly, which was an absolute ******* of a job as the holes in the fairing took some major force to line up with the holes in the bracket), the left hand mirror will show me what's behind me, including the seat unit of the bike.
the right hand mirror on the other hand, shows me more what's behind and to the right of me, and won't rotate down far enough to see the seat cowl. I can see behind me, but it is gonna take some getting used to.
 
my bike looks very similar to that see the thread named head light adjust in this section of forum for a picture. mines not a major problem but it causes my headlight to point vertical :-/ which may be a problem at mot time

Not sure I understand the question.
The bracket has been twisted since before I got the bike. I didn't twist it.

I'm not complaining (much), I still think she's a lovely bike :).

Does it look the same after fitting the mirror properly? It's just it looks pretty obvious and something you'd notice prior to swapping?!?

It does look the same after fitting the mirror properly.
It's not immediately obvious though. In fact, I didn't notice it until examined ^^^ that photo closely.
 
take the nose off ,and I'm sure you'll see where it's "bent" ,then go from there,you can heat alloy gently and bend it...
 
if your not sure what to do, get someone else that knows what they're doing to do it for you...

The biggest problem will be sourcing a blowtorch. It's a fix I can do without for now I suppose.
I didn't think even a blowtorch would heat ally up enough to make it malleable, I'm surprised about that :D.
