Guys

Newby here again.

04 RSV Mille R the old shape with all the bling

The ECU wire on my bike isnt cut ie the blue wire on the bottom row of the smaller connector far left

None of the ecu wires seem to be cut but the airbox looks clear ie no plate installed

I'm going to check the exhaust next but shouldnt the ecu wire be cut for full de-restriction?

Thanks

Stu

Just took the exhaust off and it still seems to have the cone baffle in place at the start of the link pipe

Seem to be finding conflicting views whether the ecu wire needs to be clipped
Will it do any harm if i clip it anyway?

I'm talking about the blue wire which is bottom left most hole on the smaller connector as you look at the ecu from the front of the bike

I'll have a bash at the baffle now but cant see the spot welds as in some pictures on here. also the other end of the cone ends in a cross shape rather than round

Cheers

actually no it shouldn't be cut.

from 2002 in the usa and then 2003 the uk and most of europe both locations in the chip have the same map.

Having done a dyno setup with a tuner and a mates 03 rsv we asked Aprilia whether it needing cutting as his wasn't.

this is the reply we got via a dealer.

After talking to Aprilia Tech they told me that on the Aprilia RSV Titanium E-prom & SP Titanium E-prom there is only one map and therefore you do not need to cut the wire if you install one of these chips on your bike.

What we also have been told by Aprilia is that on 2003 RSV & Tuono there is only one map on the stock chip and the wire does not need to be cut on these bikes, we have never done that since on all the Touno, RSV and RSV-R's we have delivered.

won't hurt if you clip it as the same map will be in both locations.

Spoonz, thanks for the info, i wasn't aware that 2003 RSV were not required to have the wire snip.

Don't you just love it?

Every time you log in you learn something new.

I have been reading posts on this site for months now, finally got my RSV R last week. All mods are done :)

I love it too. Every time i log-on I find I know much less about a lot more things that I never knew I didn't know before.....TBH a lot of it makes me paranoid - can't ride without listening for something/looking for something when I stop/worrying I might hear something or some fate may befall me - its driving me to drink ---- obviously:devious

Beechy,

I've just got used to it, I'm a techy so I am always looking and listening for problems. To be honest it takes me a fair few miles on a ride out to chill out and realise i am not at work I am meant to be enjoying myself.

Again, love the sarcasm.

My philosophy in life and biking is worry about the things you can do something about. Everything else is a distraction cos it's out of your control.

Do your preventative maintenance and deal with the rest if and when it happens. 99.9% of the time it doesn't. including me winning at least a tenner on the lottery. :confused

If my philosophy on life and especially biking was only worrying about the things I can do something about i'd have a pretty much care free life and i'd be proper fooked up too LOL:dowhat

I believe the std 02 chip only had only one map on it..so yer no need to cut the wire..best to put in aftermarket chip ... i have the Aprilia TI set chip with matched map for my TI pipe. However i would still like to put a power commander on it once i fit the new Evolutione Airbox Kit :D ... Finally my 520 Vortex/RK Gold conversion kit has arrived 16/44
Keen to get these on :thumbup
