Picked my RSV up at the weekend. Mate rode 150 miles home for me (cheers mate - u lucky sod).... parked up and saw a spot of oil underneath! bugger!! Degreased everything and it looked fine. Went into the garage the next day and there was blood red oil under the bike. Cleaned that all up, went out on it that night and the next morning, the floor was as clean as a whistle. Left the bike parked for a few days, went out there again today and another dribble of the red stuff!! Has anyone had similar problems? Im beginning to regret saying that my bike was a she!!! :dunno

Sounds like new Silkoline oil that may have been overfilled. Excess usually finds it's way up to the airbox and out of the breather pipe onto the floor.
Lift the tank and top of the airbox and if there is a pool of oil then that's your problem.

Failing that if it's post 04 look for hairline cracks on the side of the oil tank or generally a loose pipe between the tank and the oil cooler.

cheers peeps. Just had all the fairings off and cant see anything obvious.... between min and max but ive read that means nothing...will see what happens, but thanks for the tips!!

Have also noticed that the rhs r&g mount is pished after a spill.... im assuming thats not good (unless they can be adjusted??) btw, mounts are there but the bungs have been removed..

Wondered why Ian was just picking up his Bike:dunno
If your oil level is between min and max when it's cold, you may well have too much in - mine doesn't even show on the sight tube when it's cold but I've got it sitting just under max when it's really nice and hot - that's how you're supposed to check them.

Cheers - It hadnt even been started today and it was between the two when level............. must be that then :0)

Just need to sort out the damn crash bobbins now :angry

Oil level in my sight tube is only just visible when cold. Take it for a runout, stop the bike and check on level ground. It should be about 2/3rds the way up the tube :thumbup

Also check the oil pressure sender switch.

It leaks and collects oil in the rubber "cup" that surrounds the switch, then deposits it into the belly pan, soaking into the foam noise insulation stuck on the inside right belly pan, then makes its way down through the small gaps in between the two belly pan sections whereupon it drips out.

Oil pressure switch is @£10+VAT from a dealer and it can be removed and a new one fitted without having to drain the engine oil from the bike first. :thumbup

Cool. Cheers for that! Thats whats happening....... ill invest in a new switch and take it from there :0)

Clean the rubber cup properly first and go for a spin come back and if its still clean and dry its not gonna be the switch.
