Is it really possible to have a Mille-R with a working rear brake?
I am beginning to get all excited about it, as some people actually claim that.
Where about should I fit the so called heat shield and will it really work?

Fit heatshield between the master cylinder and the engine, using m/c mount bolts.
My back brake works good :D

Yup,same here:thumbup

I really can't understand people NOT having a good rear brake,it's a simple hydraulic circuit,as long as it's bled PROPERLY and the seals are in good condition IT MUST WORK.

Simple physics.

I agree that the master cylinder could be susceptible to absorbing heat from the exhaust system so the rudimentary heat shield will help a bit.

both my milles had poor or no rear when I brought them. After bleding it as pre the instructions on here, I have a top rear brake. my rear brake is holding after 4k so far.
I have no heat shield fitted :)

good luck chap

Mine locks up but i dont use it , will have some of griffs rearsets next so that will sort any future problems

Has any of you heard the one about hanging a weight on the rear brake pedal overnight to improve its performance?

It does indeed work stefano, the same way as cable tieing your front brake lever and the clutch lever to the bars overnight works :thumbup

for whatever reason ever since i got my 01' the rear works beautifully..better than any bike i've ever owned. At city speeds i can actually stop the bike with it, or lock it up if i really want to feel cool. I'm not sure if any mod has been done, but it used to be owned by a tech and corse superbikes in saulkville so he may have fixed that early on.

Well, after 4 hours of hard graft and labour, my neighbour has managed to bleed the damn thing and it now seems to work, let's just see how long it will work for. It has been a frustrating afternoon. The air bubbles kept coming and coming, and it is amazing how such a tiny air bubble can stop the brake working. And the reservoir is in such a position that one cannot even use a pressure bleeder.
