Is it a mistake!

My gsxr 600 (k3) track bike is being sold soon which leaves me with my 2006 rsvr factory to take over. How does the rsv perform on tight twisty tracks against 1000/600 jap bikes? Any tips on riding one on track? do they let go or give warnings first? do they loose front or rear end more than others? how are the stock ohlims? stock brakes any good? tyres- 180 or 190. steering damper settings? Advice please guys!

I have the older rsv, but any advice is better than none :D

Rsv prefers fast long turns, but handles great even in the modest speed twisties. For short 40kmh turns is not the weapon of choice, but ist not bad.

Its easy to ride and youll be alot faster than you think in no time. Breaks are great, suspension is great, not as good as racing ohlins stuff, but more than enought for most riders.(alot better than japs)

Why would they loose the front or rear more than others? Thats more up to the tyre you have on. I use 190/55 for the back.

Its a bit diferent to ride than a jap bike, but when you get to know the bike it flyes :)

One thing to keep in mind, suspension settings count alot on italian bikes, so have this adjusted for your riding style and track.
 
yea, use a 55 high profile tyre, I actually went down to 180/55's from 190/55's cos the racetech was getting chsamfered by the chain.
The hieght and 180 width certainly let ti turn a bit quicker. Great motors too, if you down gear them.
 
They're lovely on track mate - mine's quick to turn and stable as you like - far better than my mate's 996 at our last track day. Needs a bit of climbing about in tight stuff - compared to an R6, for instance - but still loads of fun and very confidence-inspiring.
