Just wondering how many people do actually tell their insurance company when they`ve fitted some new shiny or loud bits. Obviously you hear people saying they don't pay out unless you`ve told them everything that's been added but whats the score in reality ? What are peoples thoughts or experiences. I don't work for an insurance company by the way so your secret is safe if you have been naughty !!!!

Cheers

Just done a multi-bike policy with CSi, not cheapest on line but pick up the phone and got them down to £100 less than the cheapest quote. Anyway the point, I mentioned all the mods to both bikes but the say their insurer would not cover the cost of the extras but replace with OE parts and there would be no increase in premium.

So I'll get a contribution toward the cost of any non standard replacement parts but not any additions such as a steering damper.

Seemed reasonable to me.

Yeah Wavey, seems very reasonable. I`m looking to buy some slip ons so will give my company a bell and see what they say.

Im with Aquote MilleR 03,Falco 51 Gas Gas 300 enduro 39yrs & full NCB £225!!!!! & no I didnt tell them about the race can but my last bike I got scat of had carbon cans etc & all the insurance said was we would only pay for standard, which are more expensive anyway

mmmmnnn...io think i will ask at renewal time if they can cover the twin renegades, hooked airbox..i wonder what there answer will be:dunno

I insure my 03 with pc3, renegade box, akro end can and the premium didn't change. Equity Red Star through Express. 9 NCB £195 comp. All declared and noted but they will replace with OEM kit.... Bizarre really when the aftermarket kit is cheaper?

HI,

An insurer is a company selling the insurance; an insured or policyholder is the person or entity buying the insurance. The insurance rate is a factor used to determine the amount to be charged for a certain amount of insurance coverage, called the premium. Risk management, the practice of appraising and controlling risk, has evolved as a discrete field of study and practice.

Thank you...

Hi lingon, are you an insurance salesman per chance?

It may account for the habitual need to say alot that includes nothing useful....... :nana

Mentioned once that I had put a Dynojet on my Blade and they didn`t want too insure me,I rang them back and told them it was only for a smoother fuel delivery not for speed and it was then accepted. I had difficulty insuring my GSXR just because of the Rizla race paint.

my full carbon mille is also insured for replacement oe parts only.
Luckily for me in my last off, it was the bodywork at front that was destroyed...and a CF front fairing and mudguard cost about the same as oe parts. So with some judiscious rejigging of the reapir bill, it all cost the same as OE-plus they didnt write the bike off (TF)
