Just got some quotes for the bike arriving on Monday. What a shock:eek:
First quote from my current broker. £300.00 fully comp.
2nd quote from some rip off merchant £711.00 fully comp.
3rd and final £122.00 fully comp.:thumbup
How on-earth can there be such a vast difference in quotes,a couple of quid yes, but nearly £600 from lowest to highest is ridiculous and outrageous..

It's pretty simple really.

The last company has a **** underwriter who has seriously ****** up the pricing matrix and is going to be sacked if you make a claim on your policy. :doug

Nah, some companies can do better prices due to having larger volumes of customers hence spreading the risk. Always better to go to a specialist in that field, e.g. You wouldn't go to Tescos to buy a Sainsburys pork pie.

I'm 41 years young (Act around 12 years old according to the missus) and I pay £86 TPFT.

24!! not many companies seem to wanna insure under 25's on the R

Yeah, I remember being in that position many years ago.

I hated insurance companies so much I decided to work for one and destroy them from the inside. LOL

Just renewed mine fully comp £115 thru bikesure that covers me to ride any other bike fully comp aswell and yes it's hard to work out how these companies do there pricing, had my licence for 24 years never made a claim and a couple of companies on the compare.com thing wanted over £700 and many of them wouldn't even touch the bike because it had an aftermarket exhaust on

I was really surprised at the cost if my insurance for the r. I have only had my licence for 18 months, 1 years ncb. £244 fully comp. Bargain for the bike.:thumbup

At 500 tpft it doesn't make me feel quite so bad now. Alan10 that seems like a really good deal.

Got my 04 mille 5 months ago and transfered my insurance over from a 03 kawasaki zx636r, cost me £70 on top of the original cover which cost £185 tptf.

I was surprised when i renewed my insurance this month and managed to get fully comp for £195 with legal cover and protected NCB (4 years), this is with motorcycle direct. Ive just turned 29.

Good job :thumbup

I'm not really sure whether things are that different on your side of the pond from the States. It does pay to do some research. Here in the States we can get lots of comparisons and there are folks who specialize in bikes and they generally do have better rates 'cause they understand the terminology and get the descriptions correct for the quote.
Best of luck to you!!

Darn, I just renewed mine with Footman James today and paid £119 TPFT - and I'm a few years older than Alan! Should have shopped around a bit.
