Indicator Delay & Controls

I have looked across virtually all forums that have anything to do with the RSV and cannot find a solution to a small but annoying problem.

When I move the indicator switch to the left or right it takes what seems an age to actually start flashing the indicators.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also, the angle that the switches are at on the left appears to be incorrect, or maybe it's just me. It's as if they are twisted too far towards the tank so that when I want to use the indicator I have to bend my wrist so much it hurts.

I have tried to spin them round but they are pegged to the bar so cannot be moved.

Is it just me or does everyone else have these problems?

Strange one that :confused mine are ok position wise, has your bike had a replacement bar at some point due to an accident :dunno maybe the wrong bar was fitted :dunno

regards the delay, maybe the relay is faulty (sticking) can you swap it or squirt some electrical cleaner in there to try an eliminate it from the equation :dunno

If they flash at correct speed once they start i would go for the relay. Most are thermally triggered and slow start up can just mean they are tired and slow to heat.

The pin that stops you rotating the left or right switchgear is just a brass insert. You can pull it out with a pair of pliers and re insert it the same way should you want to down the line.

I have mine rotated upwards otherwise i hit the horn instead.

Cheers Spoonz, I was thinking it was just me that was honking the horn instead of indicating.

Will replace the relay and see if it improves and yank out that brass peg so I can position the switchgear more comfortably.

Thanks for the advice.

OK, took the switchgear gear off and removed the brass insert, much more comfortable now, thanks for the advice.

Took the relay out and made sure that all the electrical terminals and connections are clean and secure in the complete indicator circuit. Took me a while to do and regrettably it did not improve things.

When I first hit the indicator to go left or right the relay buzzes then starts flashing.

Must be a defective relay so going to replace it with this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=190169463790&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=009

And get some of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=180272439836&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008

Got my LED relay this morning took 10 minutes to fit and it works a treat. :biggrin:biggrin

No delay when hitting the switch nor does it now tick so loud you can hear it at 10,000 RPM. :biggrin

Just need my LED indicators now. :roll
