Well i've gone and done it. stuffed the bike well and good.
Read the Aprilia release on how to bleed my rear brake and thought, hummm didnt bled the m/c. finished work and went in the garage. took the caliper off and bled the brake system again, this time doing the m/c as well.
Big smile on my face when I had a not bad brake.
Bolted the claiper back on the bike and guess what! yep one bolt keeps turning. took it back out and I have stripped the threads off.

I need the bike for work everyday so really stuffed. had a look on ebay for the caliper mounting bracket, but can't find one. the parts manual says its called a Brake hanger plate.

Anyone got a spare one knocking about or know of someone or someplace that can supply me one ASAP. really need one like yesterday.

Got to other way of getting to work tomorrow so think im going to have to take off the caliper.

Major pooh! another notch on the Hate Aprilia belt for me lol. shouldnt be so heavy handed I guess :)

temporary fix would be use a longer bolt that goes 10mm out the other side of the hanger and put a nylock nut on it.

Then get hanger from ebay/breakers at your lesuire. Take the existing bolt into a shop for reference.

Already thought about that but the hole is about 3mm away from the rear disc. cant get a bolt on it without rubbing on the disc.
Found a couple of ebay. just a waiting game now I guess

If you have a nut and bolt supplyer near you they should sell them. Its a kit containing a drill bit of the new tapping size, a new tap, thread inserts and an insert tool. What you do is drill out your damaged thread, tap a new larger thread into that hole, then wind in the insert which is like a spring. You then break off the small 'tang' that you used to wind it in with, and now you have your original size thread back in action. (and its much stronger than your original in alloy. Race teams use them on all threads that are regually used and torqued, ie cylinder head bolts.)

I don't see the major issue? Just ride it without the back brake? My rear brake never worked from the day I bought it, still doesnt work.

Helicoil is definately the way to go as spoonz says... while at it do both mate. :thumbup
Stainless Steel coil thread in alloy..duckz nutz

whats that then?

Garvey if you've never used helicoils before then take it into a garage and let them do it mate. They can be a bit fiddly to master if you've never done them, and you'll end up making a bigger mess of your caliper bracket than when you started

Bad luck with the stripped thread, hope you get sorted :thumbup

I've managed to source another bracket. Just waiting for the guy to sort it out for me.
In the meantime, either the rear caliper is coming off or I will try Loctite 270. Studlock to hold the bolts in place. The bolts bit a little.

Really cant wait to get on the bike a ride it as it should be...

Well fitted the Bracket and new caliper. Bled the brake about 10 times. no air coming out but still no brakes.
Just spoke to a Dealer and he said it sound like I have a crappy seal in the master cylinder. Just got to get a new master cylinder now! This bike is starting to cost! :)

are you bleeding it caliper off and raised with nipple uppermost ?

Air trapped behind the caliper piston is very hard to remove. You often have to rotate the caliper whilst bleeding and sometimes give it a tap with a rubber hammer etc to dislodge the air.

pistons held right back whilst bleeding ?

I always use a syringe to do it. relying on M/C pressure to push out the air doesn't work that well for me.

No I haven't got the pistons right back. bitting with something in the middle of the pads.
Might try the sringe and the pistons right in and try that. but tonight is my last go at it. 8 nights I have tried now lol.. Getting to be a master at it or not in my case lol
