Idle Speed

I noticed tonight that the idle speed varies a fair bit. When it's cold it's around 2k which you'd expect while it's warming up. However at one point it dropped to around 500 to the point the bike felt like it might cut out, but never did. A while later it was closer to 2k again.

Any thoughts? Cheers

Your details say the bike is an 06
next time it does it have a look at the dash temp. It may read oddly.

As the later bikes have auto idle the ecu relies on the engine temp sensor as to when to raise and lower the idle for cold start etc.
If the sensor mis reports the temp then the fast idle can come on and off when it shouldn't.

The older bikes had 2 temp sensors. 1 on the front cyclinder was dash, rear was ecu but 04 > has one on the left side of the rear cylinder barrel only which does both. There is a known issue with the blue bosch type which was superceeded by a green nippondenso variety. most later bikes should have this.

Failing that check all the vac pipes around the throttle body are on and not split or trapped.

Nope std pipes for now. Coming from my last bike it seems loud enough as it is :biggrin
You'll soon want to change that!! My revs do appear a bit 'variable' at times but I put this down to the ambient temperature when riding rather than a problem :devious
