Maybe an ad campaign of real bad bike crashes showing ripped of skin and bone showing might help.

What do you think?

They should show that on a CBT before riders go out on the road, then when they pass their test they will be aware of the consequences if they dont protect themselves.

Personally speaking, i think riders in T-shirts and shorts are feckin ejits, but this is a free country and if the Law doesn't state you must wear full protection then it's up to each rider to decide what they wear :dunno

I never go out without full leathers on, whether it's for a rideout or just popping down to the shop, and it makes no difference how far you're travelling, a road is just as hard wherever you are or how far you're going :dowhat

And as for the :jack allegation, STL why didn't you point the bird in skin tight lycra out to the rest of us at Squires :biggrin

I don't have much of an opinion on the matter but if people want to wear just shorts and Ts that's their funeral (quite literally).

However if I saw more of this on the road I might be prepared to follow Jon's argument.

Ahh look she's showing off her new protective footware...:devious

I was just responding to Jon saying dont be offended when someone speaks out about it:thumbup[/QUOTE]

Ok. Do you speak out about safety when you see videos and pics of members of this forums dragging their knees and pulling whelies on public roads?

Personal opinion - i like wheelies and knee down action its cool as fcuk , again my opinon

Sprocker - miss it miss out

Cool. You can always express your opinion without calling knob other people.

Other people may think you are very hypocritical by the double standards your have when assessing risks (Not wearing protective gear in a city is really bad but pulling wheelies and dragging knees on public roads is cool) and I guess you wouldn't like people telling you that that's because is their personal opinion.

wellall i can say is live your life how you see fit if you want to wear a mankini on a bike then wear it ! its your choice if people wear shorts its their choice ive slid off so i certainly wouldn't wear them 45mph i was doing and i reckon if i had shorts on i would have one leg:devious
peoples opinons are peoples opinions at the end of the day thats what makes life interesting if people see what i do on the road i'm sure i'd get some abuse:lol:lol

i commute into london daily and see them all the time in shorts well good luck they havn't come off yet i think

IS THAT WHY YOU WEAR YOUR WORK PANTS ON YOUR SCOOT THEN KEN ??:jack

It's easy to talk about wearing full leathers etc in this country, cause it almost never gets above 70 degrees! :crazy Anybody who's been to the south of France or any other hot place will understand why it's sometimes not appropriate to wear all the gear. I've ridden there in full leathers, its like sitting in a sauna in full gear, you cook and if you get stuck in traffic or at lights its like being in a pressure cooker and you will get road rage.:rantWhen we were just riding to the beach we wore shorts & vest. If we were going for a ride inland we wore leather jacket, jeans & gloves and rode appropriately.:thumbup
Make youre own choice and let others make theirs. We all do our own risk assessment, and some are more averse to risk taking than others, that's a large part of why we ride bikes. **** can happen, but that's life.:nana

Rant over. This one will run for a long time!
