Hi guys. Just lately my clock needs resetting each time I use the bike (gen 1), also keeps going to Kmph. Will it make a difference if I swicth of the bike with the key, or should I be using the kill swith. Some bloke told me if I use the key to switch off, I loose settings? fD

Always use the key,...some bloke told you a load of bollocks. If the clocks keep reverting to kmph, then there is a fault somewhere.Either low voltage in the battery or a loose wire.Check the battery and the connections,...especially the earthing. They can be a bit weedy on the Gen1.

I always use the key to switch off, think who told you that is a nutter or taking the piss. Not sire why the clock OS being fickle.

Thanks guys. I have been thinking, could it be something to do with me connecting and disconnecting the battery optimizer? I seem to think if I havent had it connected the clocks are fine??

Mine only loses info and reverts back to KPH if the voltage goes down either through lack of use or if the battery aint man enough when you try to start it.
Either way Daz, you don't need it just now, what with your trip and all. I always use the key, the one time I did use the Kill Switch it stuck in the off position.
As Keith says check the battery connections and the earth connections, check continuety with a meter.
I just read your last post again, mine had a loose pin on the fixed charger lead, I take it off and charge it if required now.

Bike has new battery, connection are good? will see how it goes. Whilst at TT it wont be getting charged so will see if clock remains set..TT minus 18hours...

Had the same problem with my gen1, was happening as I was trying to start the bike before the rev counter went full cycle when the ignition was turned on. Since then it had a flat battery when I was out so convinced its just a battery problem and ordered a trickle charger.
