I just don't know what to do

Only had my 04 bike about 6 weeks now, but when I bought it it had a power commander wired in with OE cans (previous owner took the aftermarket ones off) So it was running really rich. I have since then put aky aprilia racing cans on there, but it's still connected to the PC. It's still quite jerky from 1500 and at a constant throttle at 3k it feels like it's jumping all over the place. And I only do 90 miles before my fuel light comes on.

My question is (sorry about the waffle but I had to set the scene) As they are aky aprilia racing cans can I unplug the PC and use map2 or should I take advantage of the PC and get it set up at a cost of £150?

I don't really wanna be spending more money as I've forked out on new cans as it is!

Hi Mike, you know my response after our telephone chat, yes I would get it dynoed, but by someone who comes recommended for these bikes, had mine done locally at the location we talked about & yes I did get on well with them, but it wasnt till later that I discovered that they did a pigsear of a job with my custom map,£180 down the drain, speak to Griff, who will be down in a few weeks,he can disconnect the pc3 for now & set up your ecu on map 2 & make sure it's got the current map on it,get in contact with him on here he goes by the name of Fusebox or ring at the shop & he'll make sure he brings down all the right gear,or give me a ring again & I'll sort it with him

PC with custom map is always going to be better than an EPROM programmed with data to suit all bikes.

It's a little like walking in to a clothes shop knowing you're a size 40" chest and buying a 44" jacket without trying it on or anything, you know it's gonna fit but it's won't be perfect!!

Mike, the first thing to do is unplug your PC3, it's not set up for the Akra cans and is causing the problems you are experiencing. You then need an Aprilia delaer to switch your bike's ECU to run Map2 if it allready hasn't been done. Also ask them to download the latest MAP verison for your model. The delaer will also need to adjust the throttle boddies to correctly set the the CO2 levels or you bike will run rough at low revs. The bike should now be running really sweetly and you can now think about a custom map for the PC3 a some point in the future. You may also want to think about changing you bike's gearing fromt he standard 16/40 to 15/42. You'll be amazed at how much better the bike is.
