I just bought an RSVR

Hi Guys, guess I'd better introduce myself as I've just entered the fold by buying a 2000 RSVR :thumbup

I'm new to the RSV but not new to bikes. I've been riding for over 20 years and also have (am I allowed to mention Jap bikes on here?!) an FZR1000 EXUP, RD350LC special and 350YPVS engined RG250 Yamagamma. I also have an early 350YPVS but this is going to be sold to pay back the Old Man who lent me the cash for the RSVR;) I only picked it up yesterday, it was on Ebay a week or so back. It's not a mint bike but was cheap. The plan is to keep it and improve the cosmetics as I go, plus sort the fiddly bits that need doing. I do most of my own work including building several LCs from the frame up, and I also built my Yamagamma so I can twirl a spanner! Having said that, I have been out on the RSV most of today and I'm very impressed! I nicked the Scorpion oval can off the EXUP for now and it sounds great! It feels like it needs new headraces as it's a bit notchy, and I think the discs may be a bit warped but not too bad. Also needs a battery as it does struggle at times, I had to jump it off the car one time but that's about it. I did notice the speedo was a bit erratic, is that a symptom of a dodgy battery?

I'll try and get a few pics up tomorrow but first impressions are very good!

Welcome Mate:thumbup
Yes these are very prone to battery problems.
Try a search on battery and solenoid problems lots of info to be found. make sure the charging circuit is ok and carry out wiring mod if problems found :thumbup

welcome matey

ridden a yamagamma, superb

look at the speedo sensor u may find the rubber boot has split & the wires are corroded

Thanks for the welcome guys :) Here's a few pics as promised. Not been out on it today but it fired up first time this evening after being left since yesterday so the battery can't be too bad. I think I'm still going to get a decent new one though for peace of mind.
