Hello everyone,

I am new to Aprilla, honestly new to the v-twin bike. I picked up a 04 RSV1000R for a pretty darn good price a few weeks ago! To say the least I am very please with my purchase. It has 9,300 miles on it, & it is in amazing condition. So far I have installed a new OEM battery, changed the spark plugs, & also changed the oil. I am running 15-50 Motul 300. The bike does seem to be a bit happier now with fresh fluids. Any other suggestions that need to be check out fluid wise? The previous owner didn't ride it much and it pretty much sat, only 4000 miles in 5 years. The only question I have is the bike makes a ticking sound on the top right half of the motor, is this a normal sounds with these bikes? It does not go away, you can hear it weather your going 20 or 70. Any thoughts? On a cold start up it can run a little rough for a few seconds or so, not very long then it cleans up. Any fuel injector cleaners recommend? As for speed the bike seems pretty fast to me, but not compared to what I came from, though the handling and the styling of the bike look like art to me. I haven't found anyone around here that has an Aprilla to compare to , but my good buddy has a new 1198 and it's just stupid fast. I can keep up but then he literally passes me on one wheel. Thanks for any help you guys can give me! I am looking forward to riding this baby more and more :)

What u need to do next before it fails are..

Change your rectifier to the shindagen Sh 775.. It will make ur flywheel abit cooler..

Then.. Fit T12 tech.. Flywheel cooling device..

After that.. The last one are change ur flywheel to 370w.. Oem is 500w.. It make a lot of power and heat

Don't know about the ticking noise but stuff people have changed is the gearing ( i think 15 front and or 43 rear but i ride a falco and like 15/42...
the cans ( depends what you have) the airbox the EPROM get rid of the US lgas cleaner check that its not on the restricted mapping ( cut one wire releases the second mapping) check if the EPROM has already been changed and adjust trim pots
think the USA sidestand is good EU ones are made of cheese

sounds a lot but if I ... A mechanical muppet can do it .,,,

For bling OZ wheels Ohlins Penske type rear shock clutch slave cylinder

I cant comment on the airbox mod side.. Looks like thats for tuono mod.. Not sure with rsvr.. Since im new with this bike aswell..

The ticking noise for me is normal.. Cuz my bike has this noise too.. Some other says its the T.chain.. On the other told me because the long oilfilter.. (Mine bike use long filter)..

Oem gearing for 04 rsvr = 16-40.. Most of rsvr's owner swap to 16-44.. But if u're always on motorway/highway.. Its not really suitable.. Better 16-42..

Congratulations with your new bike. It looks lovely.

Here are my tips, having owned mine from new with about 22,000 miles on the clock.

Engine oil: It is recommended to use a semi-synthetic, as fully will lead to your clutch to slip.

Gearing: If your going to ride around town and through lots of twisty roads, lower your gearing. I reduced the front sprocket from 16 teeth to 15, and it is much better.

Clutch slave cylinder: The original one tends to erode the seal, causing the fluid to go black, and eventually fails. Replace with an Oberon unit for superior operation.

Fluids: As well as the oil, don't forget to change the coolant, brake and clutch fluids, too. Bleeding the rear brake is a pain, as you need to remove the caliper to raise the bleed nipple above the master cylinder to expell any air. Front brake and clutch master cylinder have bleed nipples to expell any trapped air.

Fork oil: Even though it has not done many miles, it would be a good idea to change the fork oil.

Mapping: There are two pre-programmed maps within the ECU. If you have removed the cat-silencers (looks like you have), the mapping needs to be 'switched' to map 2, and this has to be done using a computer plugged into the bike's CANBUS system. A visit to an Aprilia dealer/specialist will be required to know for sure.

Rear tyre: I recommend changing it for 190/55. It transforms the bike, making it feel lighter to steer, and also lean even further.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Enjoy the bike and have lots of fun!

for tires.. didnt we need to swap to 180-55 to get lighter feel? but yes if wanna lean over.. 190 is the right ones..

if you can find 09 engine rotor/flywheel..

plz check on the code stamp on it

does it true Denso APA MX 33103007402
