OK, this migfht soung like a silly question but since it is my first post to this forum, I should be allowed to ask at least two of these questions.

I am looking at buying a RSV4 (factory if available) between the years 2008 to 2011 but there seems to be some differences in the HP ratings for these years.

I have seen 145 to 180. Which is correct?

I also notice the frame changed between 2008 and 2009 is this also correct?

Any other help regarding the changes between these models would be appreciated.

The very latest bikes (aprc models etc) have a redesigned motor and make more power. They have only been around since 2011

To my knowledge frame hasn't changed

RSV4's were not around in 2008, 2009 was the first model. The chassis on the factory model is adjustable for the engine, steering head and swingarm and the standard R model is not.

Might be an obvious reply... but the RSV4s all have 3 ECU Mapping selections; selectable when the bike is in idle (by thumbing through the starter button): (T)rack, (S)port, (R)oad. Each of these limits the HP output. Road is completely downgraded to roughly 140 throughout all gears, Sport limits the first 2 or 3 gears to 167 (could be wrong on my figures) but delivers the full 180 in the higher gears. Track is the full unadulterated 180 throughout all gears.

I've come across a lot of literature that seems to misrepresent the true HP output of the bike because of its lack of understanding on what Aprilia has intended with these Modes.
