Just be careful as you will be providing your own evidence for the police if you get stopped.
In away, your kinda correct.
However......
I have a bullet cam that I sometimes hook up to my Canon MiniDV camcorder on the bike.
I was a bit concerned about getting stopped and the feds looking at the footage contained within.
The missus works as head legal cashier at a busy law firm and I ran the "ins and outs" of on bike vid footage past her boss ( who is a solicitor advocate ) for a bit of clarity.
He said that if you are stopped and the Police request to see the footage you have just been taking on the camcorder, you can quite rightly refuse to show them.
They require a warrant to touch/remove/view your camcorder footage on the unit itself.
Some of them might get huffy over being told "No......your not getting to see the tape" and attempt to bluff you and say that you must show them.
They can't make you do so, unless they obtain said "warrant".
The only way you "might" be on a sticky wicket is if you are involved in a road traffic collision and the authorities recover your bike with the camera still attached. They then, can and will look at the contents without your consent, during any subsequent investigation into the collision, whether you give consent or not.
But, if you just get stopped on a routine check for noisy can, wee number plate, the usual crap, then they cannot in any way, legally demand you show them any footage you have on any recording device attached to the bike at the time. :thumbup
