Not going into the long winded reason why/stupidity….but I have ended up Not going into the long winded reason why/stupidity….but I have ended up polishing part of one can with Peek metal polish and now have swirls in the finish. Sent email to Aka for advice and only got replacement sleeve option which I have to do myself!!!. Sure I will not get the factory finish + also been told might have a slight shade of finish issue. There advice to rectify the can is polish and sand blast finish both cans!??... New can £400 at this time is a little extreme.

Do like the more shiny finish though so wondered if anyone else has ended up doing this & how do I get a non swirl finish when in sunlight? (it’s the swirls you get when a black paint finish is in the sun you can’t see them under normal light conditions) or has anyone polished the Titanium cans themselves?

Thinks of hours polishing ?. If I get a decent finish then I will have to tackle the mint RH can!

PS. If anyone has a good polishing company contact around the midlands would be appreciated as this is another option.

When polishing you must go one way eg. end to end (don`t use a machine) .
The swirls come from going around and around.
The polish will have cutting paste in so you need a polish with as fine as possible.
 
here goes...you have nothing to loose.

take can off bike & remove strap if you've not done so already

firstly, try a bit of black silicone wax spray. (used for car interiors & back to black plastics)..and polish in to see how bad things really are

if no good, then take a soft cloth and polish longitudinally (not in circles) go steady around edges of sticker.

and keep at it until you get a uniform finish.

if you don't get a finish to your satisfaction then it's new can/sleeve time

if you do..then do the other side to match.
 
Bossy whit kind of finish do you want? If yer want a satin finish get yersel some scothbrite get the iron free stuff and get a roll instead of pads. Go round the circuference of the can in an even manner do not go the long way. If you want a mirror polish you'll need some soap HI FIN is the best for what you need, now you need to find a bench grinder with a tappered spindle, get some mop wheels, one rough and multi stiched and a soft finish mop. Use the rough mop to start with and plenty soap. It would take a while to tell you how to do it properly so jist take yer time and don't use to much pressure. Take the soft mop and use lightly to remove excess soap and it should leave you with a bright polish. If you don't like it you can then satinize the whole can with the scotchbrite. Scrap the stickers you can get new ones. If you want more info pm me.
 
AurtoGleam Paint renavater , its an imolshan , Its aluminem Oxide so very very fine for polishing ,they yous it for polishing hard contackt lenses . You will get rid of your swerls with this , going up and down in strait lines ,on a damp polishing cloth The Tiy is harder ,than Alley , so it will just polish the can with out wearing the finish down . grate for bringing your paint werk up to brightnes as well once a year , Iff you oun an R ,it will bring up the swing arm and frame up a treet as well;) then after woods on the cans yous GT85 ,to bring it back to looking like new ,

the tiytanem that exhourst are made from is poures as well so yousing GT85 ON it it gos into the poors and stops that ingrand dirty look that you get with tiy cans once you have had them on for a while .

But to get a finish that looks the way it was you can't go up and down the length of a tube. Any mair o yer **** and I'll be doon there and feckin ko yae wae an effin dictionary, aye ma ain personal wan (never used the fecker anyhoo).

,I was welding and fabracating metals from the Age of twelve on my Dads farm , thank **** I never took it up full time once I had parst my five year aprenicship black smithing wen I left school , I mite have ternd out to be as biter and twisted abowt it like you .
