How to remove front wheel bearings

F

factorydude

Guy's i'am after some help need to fit new wheel bearings to my front wheel its a brembo type and normally i woul just remove circlip and knock spacer inside wheel to one side and drift the bearings out from either side. however spacer will not go anywhere so can not get to bearings, In the manual it states you need a special aprilia tool that fits into 2 small cut outs in the spacer that you fit the tool to, to drift them out. Does anybody have one of these or is there another way to do it

Cheers

i have used a modified wheel spindle in the past to drift them out as the aprilia special tool doesnt even work mate!!

no easy way mate just knock them bad boys out! its a drag but do-able!

best of luck !
griffer!

Heat the hub with a good hot hairdryer, try and not heat the bearing, take out circlip and you need to catch the edge of the bearing you are trying to drift with a good sharp drift/punch/screwdriver even, but you need to get quite an acute angle on it to get some purchase on the bearing edge.

You should be able to move the spacer to one side a small amount to get some purchase on the bearing.

Cheers guys managed by using a BIGGAR HAMMER and boy did they take some shifting
