Sold the Mille & bought a Tuono, the moding starts
Hello Peeps.

Ive recently bought a 2002 Aprilia RSV Mille which still has the 18,000 Kilogram standard Can fitted. In a bid to loose the weight ive just bought a 2nd hand Titanium Akrapovic end Can. The last owner had it kicking around his garage for a while, so its got a few small marks & light scratches here & there.
Ive ordered a new genuine Akrapovic Decal, & want to clean up the Can brand new.
My friend told Me not to use Autosol as that will mark it, but Brasso will work great. Although another friend told Me not to use Brasso!!
It has the Matt Satin Finish, so how do i clean it up???
Please Help.....

try it on a small bit on the back of the can, i think brasso will leave milky streaks. it all depends upon how bad the marks are?, what i have done previously is very fine wet and dry sand paper and water, but keeping a consistant one way action round the can and then wax it. its up to you.

get yourself some medium and fine grade wire wool - its a brushed titanium finish so the wire wool takes out the scratches y scratching it less !! simples

There's a good writeup on the r1-forum about it (just do a search for cleaning up ti cans) :thumbup

After 3 hours of scrubbing my Akrapovic Can & Link Pipe both look brand new again. I used a Scotch Brite heavy duty scouring pad & WD40 with plenty of elbow grease.
If you are planning to do this always rub WITH THE GRAIN!! On Akra Cans the grain is going round the Can, so no rubbing length ways. Although you should obviously check the grain your own Can 1st.
Im really happy with the results & am looking forward to the Decal arriving so i can fit it all onto my Mille.
Satch.
