Just got back in from a great days solo hooning (I love this bike) ...anyway, en-route, I thought I'd call into my local Ape dealer to check out new Tuonos in particular the v4. Showroom was packed, (just me actually) and to my suprise, I'm being ignored and treated with indifference...they obviously don't need the sales thought I. So I've put a hold on v4 shopping for the time being.
Anyway, whilst there, I thought it might be a good plan to check which map variant I'm running (I had to swap out the ecu several weeks back as mine was faulty, bought a s/h one off tash) so I ask service reception how much they'd charge to check for me..."£40" came the answer...now I'm thinking, ****, it just needs connecting to the Axone, and press a few buttons, job done....so I ask "why so much, and what do I get for my money time wise"....he answers...", no time, we just press a button" with a take it or leave it attitude....

Bottom line, A&D are off my dealer list from now on, & I'll be calling in at Griff's next time I'm down Tamworth way.

Earlier in the year, mini Griff checked my valve clearances, balanced throttle bodies, new plugs, and set everything up perfectly on his Axone...istr I paid about £180.

So, am I being unreasonable here? is a map check really £40 worth? (and yes, I know I've GOT to get it done)
It's just a 10 minute job, isn't it?

My map change was £50 - so one less button to press when checking Im guessing, hence 'only' £40. :rolleyes

Overheads T. I know it sounds expensive for a ten minute job but they rarely are jist ten.

No excuse for being indifferent, I walked into a quiet bike shop to buy some kit (expensive) with a wedge in ma pocket after 25mins of total lack of interest on their part I walked back out, wedge still in ma pocket. I don't care if they're the only suppliers of x,y or z in ma area they'll never get a penny from me.

Fuds.

IMO Tifa, I have never planned to be the cheapest in my line of business, but, you have to be treated properly, people will pay for good polite service. I dont mind anybody making money, thats why they are in business, but as I say they should earn their money in the right way. People who appear to not need your business are not worth dealing with and they wont survive in the long run. DONT go back there. fD

I often call in to A&D in Denbigh. (I think.) as it's a great run from mine over to Bala, Carregydridion, Then over Denbigh moor but have always felt dissapointed when I walk in through the front doos for the indifferant service I have received. About his time last March I asked them to value my Dorsoduro against a new V2 Tuono. They vever called me back with a price, hence I went to Millennium M/C in St Helens who were more than wiling to mkae me an offer & take a deposit.
