a bit of fun/mockery at the bikes really.

Some should be quite good but others will be awful.

No consumables (chains/tyres/brakes etc)or crash damage as they'd cost money no matter what the bike, just stupid things that have gone wrong against the milage you've done on it.

i'll start

2 brand new batteries, a starter solenoid, oil cooler, a rear indicator as it corroded inside and finally a set of fork seals

~£300 to cover 1500 miles.

not my mille but my zx9r set of calipers £100 ebay, set of coils £50 ebay 10 bulbs approx £25

£175 - 22000 miles :)

My R1

Problems started at 19685 miles, fixed by 21485 miles. Problems returned at 24000 miles

New Battery £ 70
New Reg/Rec £ 50
Main Wiring Loom £ 55 Ebay
Another Battery £ 70
Temperature Sender £ 20
Fan Relay £ 15
Headlight Bulbs £ 30

Total £ 310 to do 1800 miles

New clutch, battery, solenoid, slave cylinder, ind relay, fan switch
£350ish = 5000 miles

happy motoring though, was out on sunday and had a grin from ear to ear :doug
Spent loads of cash on modding though.:pirate

My zx7r - clutch slave cylinder £50 in 36000 miles

Bought my 2000 RSVR in March this year.

So far....

New battery, new (yamaha) solenoid, second hand oil tank from ebay, new throttle cable, new speedo sensor - approx total = £260.00

Mileage was 9500 in March, now almost 14500 including two track days.

So 5000 miles for £260.00 with a down time of no more than 10 days due to the above :thumbup

No real high costs for my RSV....BUT had an old GPX750R, bought privately for £1300, rode for a month or so, found it to be burning oil, stripped engine down...totally fukced
Spent another £1000 on parts ; plus full exhaust system as original fell apart when removed! (mate was doing the work so no cost other than tray of beer)...Got it running, rode for another couple of weeks......started burning oil again...
Binned the bugger very soon after.
Probably did no more than a couple of hundred miles for £2300!! OUCH!

I must be a lucky one by the sounds of all the various problems that people are having.
So far no problems as posted on the zone have raised their head on my 02.
Being only the second owner of the bike, and the first owner who bought the bike new was my best mate. Sadly he passed away (RIP kimbo), hence his pride & joy now being mine for just on 2yrs now.
Our weather is pretty much dry all year round except for 6 weeks in the Wet season, when it rains that hard (2.5 metres of it) you can't ride the bike anyway. So i'm thinking that alot of electrical problems on the Apes come about from continuos damp climates such as the UK etc. Maybe drawing a longbow, but for me its a lucky one & absolutely in lust with this bike from the first day my mate bought it. I had a GSXR 1100 H then, and thought one day i will own one of those Italian Aprilia RSVz too. When my mate passed away, his wife asked me if i wanted the Mille as they both new how much i liked it...well did I..you betcha! ...So far no problemos!

in 52k miles- starter solenoid, tilt switch, brake light switch and battery.
v cheap compared to my last kwak with similar mileage, and I use the rsv all year round.
Ck

2002 RSVR 9200 miles, £120 for new front ohlins fork seals and fresh oil and £30 on a Yamaha starter relay.

So £150 in 9200 miles

My zx6r 5k miles = £0

RSV mille so far 1k miles = £42 for 4 Indicators because I pulled the cover off the bike and snapped the front pair, decided to replace all 4.

2004 Rsv Factory

1 x temp sender £24 + 1 x Fork seals/0il £70 = £94 / 13000 miles.

Changed slave for MPL but original was fine.
