cos the standard ones sound lush when accelerating... & mines still restricted... & looking at the huge dustbin size difference to say a Micron or Art... surely these must sound rather raucous too !?

I'll say this only once......YOU NEED AN AFTERMARKET CAN! Doesn't really matter which brand; think it sounds good now, wait until you hear it running as the boys in Noale intended...GET YOUR HAND IN YOUR POCKET! Oh, and get that wire cut to release the beast!...all the best

To answer your question - aftermarket cans, (ones with detachable baffles), are louder than standard ones. I've tried various cans over the last year or so, all with the baffles in place. Some were still too loud for me. Right now I'm running an Arrow can with the baffle in place and it's just right IMO. I also ran a legal Quill can which did not have a detachable baffle. That was quite quiet but gave a lovely roar when giving it a bit of stick.

I am a serial Can Swapper and the only reason I change is to get a quieter one :D Most of them make my ears bleed but they sound soooooooo good at full chat that I put up with it. (There only ears :) and I do wear plugs)

There is no way I would dare take the baffle out my current Can. (There would be a Air force Kid looking at a seismic graph in Utah saying "What the $%ck just happened in Durham England :D )

Standard can has major baffles in it & is made to meet maximum decibel ratings (i.e. quiet) and for optimum engine performance!!!! Whereas aftermarket cans have less baffling (usually relying upon the insert to reduce noise) and are made to save weight & allow the engine to be re-mapped to optimum 'sport' performance as they are generally less restrictive in terms of air flow...or something like that!!!:dowhat

Mind I have come to work on my Kawasaki ZXR today and the Can on that Puppy is loud.

The carbon sleeve is squidgy so I dont think there's much in the way of sound absorbing material in there :D
