Hi,
Returned from a short ride yesterday and shortly after returning home I happened to put my hand on the reservoir of the ohlins rear shock. While it was not hot enough to take skin off it was very hot.
Three questions popped into my head.
1: Is this Normal?
2: Is It just heat carried over frm the rear exhaust
3: Can I do anything to reduce it. As my ride was not long or hard.

Cheers

Jeff

Yes....that's perfectly normal.
The shock converts lateral force into heat.
That's how all hydraulic shocks work.

And it's why you should never cover it with so called 'shock protectors', or dust covers...it just makes them more inefficient.

Yep....theoretically, that's not a bad plan.
Anything that stops the shock from getting hot will assist it's dampening properties.
Pain in the arse to do though....and after a few months it'll look like ****.

I've got my link pipe wrapped as I always catch my boot on it..used the titanium coloured wrap and it seems better than the crappy white stuff
