hooked airbox vibrations?

I've just fitted my Hooked airbox mod yesterday, at wide open throttle the tank really vibrates and reverberates from the induction, ALOT!
It sounds nice until the last bit of throttle, then it sounds harsh and vibrates like ****

Is this normal?

Doesn't sound normal to me mate, vibrations are bad news mate if they are excessive. Would you say that it sounded really rough on full throttle and could you tell if the vibes came from the induction roar or perhaps transmitted up from the engine?

I reckon it may be time to have your CO and throttle body balance checked, or has this been done recently?

Got any other issues with it like cutting out, poor starting, rattles from the engine, poor acceleration etc...?

no not normal...mine doesnt do it and no else has mentioned it...may be worth lifting the tank to see if any thing has come loose :dunno

I'll ave the tank off and have a look then. could be that the tb's need balancing, but I didn't notice anything with the original airbox at the time, but now I thing about it, it did vibrate a bit at high revs and wide throttle, but being new to v twins I guess I thought it was normal, now with the "hooked' air filter it's MUCH more noticable. Could it be the TB's need setting up? What else could it be?

On the ride home tonight I concentrated on the problem, It's not so much a vibration but a reverberation from the cylinder pulses felt through the tank, I don't think it's anything to do with TB setup, as this only effects idle - 1/3 throttle.
After the ride I checked for anything loose, I did notice that the plate isn't flush with the top of the Throttle bodies, it's being held up in between the two velocity stacks by the two rubber 'o' rings not seating correctly, kind of flush on the edges and high in between..
Did you guys use the rubber 'o' rings under the velocity stacks when converting to your hooked open box?

You state that the "O Rings" they should not be fitted....remove them straight away......have a look at the threads and also the fitting instructions that Hooked sent out with all of his kits!!!!!! this should resolve the issue.:thumbup
