Sorry If I end up getting people to repeat themselves.
What is the hooked airbox mod all about.
I've heard it mentioned several times but cant find any explainations of what it does or how to do it?
maybe a howto post would be an idea?:confused

It's basically a kit that changes your Mille's airbox into a an open one, supposedly letting more air in and so making more power. Haven't yet tried one myself (will when funds allow) but the many on here who have say it boosts the midrange and sounds awesome. Comes with all the filters, etc., you need and is apparently a really easy fit.
Hooked is the screen name of the guy on here who makes them.
Check out the threads in the for sale section, some of which go into quite a lot of detail.
Here you go Hooked airbox
Think the prices have gone up a little since this was posted and he now makes one for the later (post-04) Milles as well.

Quality bit of kit & it does make a difference...BUT if you do go for one of these kits prepare yourself for the induction roar that makes your petrol tank into a sub-woofer and blots out most other noises!

I did a bit of a pictorial how to when i fitted mine :thumbup clicky this

Get one there fab :thumbup

I made your boot seal version yesterday mate took it for a blast last night and jesus! felt like a different bike! Performance and noise. If i had the cash at present i would get Hooked's version as it would be a much more reliable/professional job and am only using this till i save the pennies for a real one :thumbup

Didn't really test the homer ewe copy out Stuart before i got the Hooked one. I really only made it to pass the winter away for something to do while the bike was off the road. Hooked's is first class quality wise, and the induction noise is just superb :pirate i'm not the fastest or most experienced rider out there to be knowing performance gains for or against each type, the standard one was fast enough for me anyway :roll i'm more of a sound junkie than speed junkie :biggrin

I gotta say the "Hooked" looks a quality bit of kit:pirate and Id want one just for the bling value alone BUT

I went back to the EVO type cos the induction noise of the Rene copy, whilst being glourious and addictive, was just too much for my aged ears.

Both types are a marked improvement from the standard bread bin though

Performance wise then, what are the differences do you think :dunno

Hooked Airbox

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies.. Loooks and sounds great, I'll bear it in mind for the future, once I get my bodywork ecu chip sorted! :doug

IMHO I think the Hooked type gives more mid range punch whilst the EVO/Badger/Halfords type gives more top end punch.

As I said before both types allow the engine to "breath" much better.

Mr Damage, I see you are from Bromsgrove. Is that home to the (in)famous cloverleaf?
