Hello all. Need some honest advice. I had a ZX9R a couple of years ago and decided to stay on 4 wheels. Need a bike again now and fancy an older Mille. The problem is that I'm 6'2'' and not slim as well as 58 years old. Having read some posts it seems there are a few problems I need to be aware of. Well do I go for it or wait for a mobility scooter? I've got broad shoulders so let rip.
Thanks.

they are quite heavy on the wrists but you can get helibars or equivalent to raise the bars up...some have gone for a tope yoke conversion and fitted tuono style bars...

dont discount a falco they have slightly higher bars

Got a gen 1 Mille, and to be honest there a great bike but after 20 miles or so numb right hand,so is rather heavy on the wrists, but just try to avoid duals/motorways, just enjoy the B roads on it,

Overall the RSV fits lardy riders
- try one for size - i have room to move around a lot as i'm not so lardy!!
- you could easily modify the bars using clip-on risers

Hi I've got an 04 Gen 1 heavy on the wrist but looking for some Falco bars, like Redratbike say look at a Falco much easier on the wrist and nearly as much fun or a Tuono . Happy hunting

I noticed it more when I lost some weight, couldn't throw it about like I did before. but still love the bike,
Only 5.10 and 11.5st but don't know if need to mess about with set up, but apart from hand goin numb only prob I have with it,

I dont want to jump your thread but numb hands can be a problem on these big vibrating twins. I suffered really badly with it when i first got my gen1.
Solution was to get some good quality bar ends to reduce the vibration but the main improvement i found was by relaxing my grip of the bars when riding. I think i was holding on for grim death when i first got her because i had never riden a bike with this much power and torque.
Even now 3 years later i have to remind myself to relax and enjoy the ride instead of shitting the life out of myself when the red mist comes down:doug

I'm 6'2" & a fat ******, suffered with a bad back so fitted high bars & now I can ride all day long. Don't wait for the mobility scooter that will come soon enough :roll

They are a big old bird , they are a bit heavy on the wrists unless your in hoon mode , which on these is about a million miles an hour
High bars will be an upgrade I might make to mine over the winter
My Fireblade a 97 rrt model is far roomier and a lot more comfy , don't ride it much tho

Mike

I found the pegs pretty high compared to my old R1 so I would look at aftermarket rearsets that can be adjusted downwards
