Nothing's simple. I was intending to get the kit fitted and try it out, but time ran out.
Firstly here is a picture of kit, it came very well packaged. I couldn't find the stay bar to hold the tank up, looked everywhere and couldn't even see the clips shown in the manual that hold it in place. Anyway, I resorted to a piece of string, did the job nicely.
Next was removing the sponge stuck to the underside of the tank, it came off in one piece, but left some of the sticky glue on the tank. What a nightmare getting rid of it. I was getting somewhere with mentholated spirits before having to leave it last night, but that was slow. Any suggestions for removing said sticky stuff?
Anyway, I'll try and do some more tonight or tomorrow.

I normally just use a beer towel (nice and grippy) and a lil petrol.
Just removed a tank protector this morning using white spirits, came off nice and easy, ust remember if u are sticking anything back over the cleaned patch, use some lighter fluid to remove the oliy stuff u used to get off the gluey stuff.

try autoglym tar and insect remover mate,kind on the paintwork and once it gets hold,turns glue to sloppy mush.works for me anyhow.

Thanks for the advise, I'll try the petrol first and if not I'll try the insect remover.
I bought the kit from here http://www.italoparts.de/aprilia-rsv-1000r-06-c-56_275_307.html not cheap, but looks good quality with good illustrated instructions.

All done. Simple job, but needed a bit of elbow grease to remove the glue from the underside of the tank (plus meths, petrol, vodka and Mr Sheen). Apart from that the job was simple and the instructions with the kit were excellent. Here are a few pics of the clean underside, the airbox without the ring and with it fitted. Also, there are a couple of washers fitted to riase the tank slightly, all part of the kit. One thing not shown here is that they give you a ball bearing to fit in the anti-noise flap pipe, another simple task though. It was late when I finished so couldn't tell what the effect is, but I may get a chance tonight.

Exactly, spot on.
I took it for a spin earlier and although it isn't mapped it definitely felt "stronger", the front was lifting easier than before. As for the sound, well I'm lost for words, I just love it!!!

Yeah but, no but, at least your carpet looks better than the awful patterned stuff on my garage floor, still I can still work on the bike in my slippers if I want to.:biggrin
Just say the wife did it....we will all understand. :nana
I sealed mine up with automotive door weatherstrip. $15 for the box from the local parts house,,,a little clipping...and some silicone..it was all done.
