Evening all,

Not sure weather this topic has been covered before on here but it doesnt hurt to ask.

So who's tried making they own airbox kit then and what luck have you had, good or bad, would be good to have pics too ! I have been tempted to have a go myself of late, what with the winter looming and the chance of going out for a ride seeming slim.

Im think the renegade style one looks the easiest, seems just a case of making a base plate a making sure the holes for the throttle bodies are correct and hole of the air inlet is inline, then again it always sound easier in theroy

Come on then folks, lets have some feedback.

Not sure about the Renegade kits, I've got the Evo one on mine and that simply uses the original bottom half of the Std airbox with a seal around it. The seal goes between the bottom of half of the airbox and the bottom of the fuel tank. This instantlt increases the sizeof the airbox volume. It was I believe developed for racing.

It gives somemore power 2-3bhp and a lovely induction noise when you're riding it.

Give it a go,i have a home made renagade stylee air box .although i've got to admit i did'nt make it myself,my mate made it for me.he made it out of fibre glass matting, when i've got time i could take some pics for you,so you can see that its not to difficult to make and it only cost me £55,most of that was for the air filter,so it was a cheap mod that sounds great and makes a little bhp gain...it all helps.if you fancy the evo type air box, there was a very good thread about building your own over on apriliaforum.com,just DONT ask the yanks which type of air box is best, coz they can argue that one for years.

good luck
