HID Kit

B

Blackngold

Back on the road at last after my set to with an R6. My 06 Black Factory was written off but thanks to Mr Insurance I'm now running mine and your favourite V Twin brand spankers!! Unfortunately Mr I wouldn't stretch to the optional extra 2 cylinders:devious

Already fitted some cosmetic trinkets but was wondering if any of you had fitted or had experience of a HID kit as I've seen some advertised around the bazaars.

Drop amb67 a PM mate, he has fitted this type of kit to his APE so i am sure he can give you some valuable information around these kits.

Hi mate, yeah as Aus says have a single HID kit fitted to mine. (Old 2001 model RSV)

Seeing as yours is an 06 plate I presume it's the 2004 shape onwards?

If yes you'll need twin HID (In other words a car kit) kit, make sure you look for a kit that's got slim ballast units and has a burner (bulb) that is around 6000K or less (Less = better performance) any higher and yeah it looks pretty but it's as much use as the standard bulbs. :roll

If you ask Badboy nicely I'm sure he'll take a piccie of his ballast units so you can see where he mounted them, quite a smart place to put them IMO!!

Look to pay around £60 ish max, don't buy the £20 ones from Nigeria you see on Ebay from time to time as I have been reliably informed they never arrive.

I have been watching these as I'm interested in converting my main beam to HID too - Click Me. My single HID came from the same guys, however they were trading as a different name on Ebay then, same factory that produces the goods and mine have been great and I know a few other guys that bought sets and haven't heard them complain.

Speak to them and ask them if they do a set with your fitment, which if I remember correctly is H7 U? Best check before you order a kit though!!

Hope this helps!

Cheers for the info. I was thinking of putting the ballast units under the fairing infils below the grips if I end up getting a set. This obviously depends on the length of cable supplied etc etc... £60 seems a fair price too:thumbup

I'll have to try and get hold of Badboy for his pics.

I've updated my profile also...my last factory was the Black 06 which was written off...now playing with this on an 09...see my garage...shiny:doug
