hiya.

looking for advice ,
middle age has made me bored of all these arse up / head down bikes that change every 6 months so had a look at a Gen 2 06 plate bike. Done a few miles , 30 k + but I'm not bothered about that as condition is good and service history is there.

Anything extra I need to look out for ? I'm guessing they are comfy in a sense ? They don't look great on fuel but then if I wanted good mpg I'd buy a scooter !

I cant pull wheelies very well , am I still allowed to buy one ......... ?

Welcome from another middle aged sportsbike refugee. I've had my gen2 for three weeks tomorrow and so far it's all been good. I'm finding it comfortable enough to ride till the fuel light comes on (which isn't far - I get lower mpg than any other bike I've owned).

It's an absolute hoot to ride and I have a 15t front sprocket on order which is going to turn me into a wheelie god

Have a good trawl on here... few things to look out for.... many things to put a smile on your face.

Tiz not a Japanese 4... n that is a major bonus !

you will smile like a fool......n realise you've been a fool for not buying one sooner.

ya have to accept most of us are a tad bias towards them...

It will loft the front wheel at will... try one and take it from there...

:)

I've had an '07 for about a year. No problems at all (13k miles total, I have put on 5k miles). Fairly comfortably, though the seat is kind of hard. The upright position makes it easy to control in slow traffic or in town. I changed to a 15 tooth counter sprocket also (Sorry officer, the front wheel came up by itself!). A blast on twisty roads. I get 100-120 miles before the low fuel light comes on. Some of the issues with early Gen II: Stator failure and stator to voltage regulator connector failure (brown connector). I check the voltage every time I start it up and clean the brown connector every time I change the oil. I removed the cover and inspected the stator. It was very dark (color), so I suspect I will be replacing it before too long. Some have had to bleed the rear brake frequently. I have not had this problem. Dry bearings in the suspension linkage. Mine were okay.

It's a great blend of Italian exotica and practicality (is this an oxymoron?).

Welcome, I think we are all ex-sportbike owners here and all love our T's. You'll fit right in

Thanks .
I'm a bit surprised at the prices. I thought I'd found one a keen price of £3000 with a few miles on but one finished on ebay last night pretty similar but with Akro's on and a few less miles at £3200 , but didn't hit reserve. To be honest I thought they sold for around £3500 to £4000 for 06 / 07 bikes ?

Yes I've read around for a couple of days . Seems you've all bought 15 tooth fronts.
I used to have the Factory RSVR new shape a few years ago but wrote that off. First few rides I hated it but then rode it as it needed to be rode and I was away. Loved it. I loved the fact it wasn't a Ducati which every one else seemed to want.
It I can just ride this with out worries , be semi comfy , pop to the TT with out grief then i'l lbe happy.

I wouldn't have thought you were miles away with that budget as I paid £4K for my 07 with Ohlins, Arrows, new 2CT's, chain and less than 5K miles
