Hi Folks... Another Tuoldo newby just joining...

Hi everyone,

After a break of 19yrs from biking (mostly commuting plus some leisure riding) I bought an SV650 SK1 (full fairing) in 2011 for leisure and the occasional commute. Great bike, light, nimble, and pretty quick 0-60mph (3.2s according to Wikipedia ;) due to power to weight ratio. But after 3 years I needed something more powerfull(!) so it's now up for sale.

Really like the Suzuki TL1000s (big brother to SV650 curvy - as most will know), but so many issues on the original 'Widow Maker' (e.g. rotary damper, cracking head stocks, tank slappers, etc). But then I discovered the Tuono... as powerful, better handling, and doesn't try to kill you when least expected! Plus upright riding position is better on longer runs. So... acquired a 2004 plate 'Fighter' (grey & gold) end Dec... and loving it... Few minor bits to sort on the bike to get it back to A1, but looking forward to the fun... especially on the road... :thumbup

Hello. Nice bike, I've got the same - 2003 gold/grey. I just got it last week straight from a 125 Suzuki VanVan I rode for 2 years! I haven't even got my A licence back from DVLA yet. Mental.
 
Welcome mucker, good tae see people with taste joining the forum. Grey is obviously the best colour for the Tuoldo, enjoy

...Problem is... you'll have to re-train as an astronaut if you ever want to experience another upgrade like that! ;)
PS: Well done... ride careful... for a while at least...!

Welcome too. That's one hell of a jump in machines. If you can, get some training on a track or closed area on this bike before you take it out in the traffic. Remember these things have a 'hammer of Thor' power delivery and can whip you off the back at a moments notice.
 
I've been having a helluva time. I'm commuting daily so lots of hours in traffic already. Pulled a wheelie outside Sainsbury's off the lights a couple of weeks ago (unintentional) but I think I've got the slow stuff fairly nailed. Fortunately I'm on sleepy Exeter streets.

I LOVE the Tuono handling, especially on the country lanes. Biggest change is high speeds by which I mean anything over 50mph LOL!

Appreciate the caution. The TLS1000 was known to throw tankslapers under hard acceleration hence steering damper retro fitted to early models. Then rotary dampers got hot (next to exhaust) and ceased to damp... which makes the rear suspension unduly exciting on bumpy sections, etc!! Hence its reputation as 'The widowmaker'. But any bike can be that.

At least with the Tuono it's predictable...assuming rider knows the bhp and what happens with unmeasured throttle input on bend, etc. Must confess, chasing a Duke couple of weeks back I did induce a mild power slide on a roundabout, but that was more to do with crud on the road. Looking forward to clean, dry roads come spring though... to get a bit more practice... and appreciate the power needs respect and familiarity before being unleashed... yeehaaa! :thumbup
