became owner of my first rsv today, always wanted one.have had vtr 1000 firestorms previously and still have one.not ridden the rsv yet.
its a bit rough but the price and mileage was right, cant wait to try it and get it sorted.the engine sounds sweet and quite so the important parts seem ok.
will update as I get on with it
ps anyone got a screen they want to sell a scratch if not bad doesn't matter its a 2001
cheers

Hey, good to see you on here. I have had my RSV for two years and still have not rode it. Still have a starting problem. Welcome.

hi ,thanks for reply.
been working on mine now for a week, got brakes all done ,all fluids changed and ran the engine up for about ten mins it sounds great very happy with the way it sounds no rattles etc, fans cut in when they should.
removed the baffle today, surprised it was still in there, but still a long way to go yet.
I bet you are frustrated with yours, have you made any headway at all
cheers

Well I have read some posts on here and with many of the symptoms I am leaning towards the stand switch is bad. The light stays on when the side stand is up, so that's probably my first bet, but I am also getting an error. Hoping that's the only thing. I bought it for a steal, replaced the radiator and battery, I should flush the rest of the fluids. Guess I would like to get it running though.

yes im sure your stand switch will be bad,i took off my stand to respray it as it looked awful, and the connectors were so bad they just crumbled up.looked for a replacement and they are £90.so decided to bypass it .problem was the corrosion had travelled right up the wiring and could not solder because the copper was black, had to go all the way up to the height of the engine to find good copper

hi,
just in case its any use to you. I have by passed the stand switch.just solder black to brown and the bike is in a permanent stand up state.then I also wanted to have the side stand light working ,so I am going to rig up a switch that will ground out the green wire when the stand is up turning off the side stand lamp
