Hi Fellow RSV Forumers ,

Can anyone help me ?

I tried to start my RSV 1000 Mille (2002 model) today after winter lay off - (used jump leads from my car) and - Disaster - I Stupidly had put Jump leads "Wrong " way round at Car battery end. - I had put the Red / Positive lead at Car end onto the Black / Negative Battery terminal Car end and visa versa - (at Bike battery end I had them correct.) After some sparks and noise I undid and set up as should have been. - The jump lead cables were very hot. I left a little while then tried in correct fashion to start bike - there seemed to be plenty of Juice / power coming from bike starter motor and seemed to be turning over but it seemed as if there was no spark from spark plugs to actually ignite the fuel. (my diagnosis here may be way off the mark but that is what it sounded like), but bike wouldn't start.

What have I done and is it fixable ??

Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.

Cheers all,

Brian

Is the fuel pump priming ??

Check every fuse including the ones under the seat if it's not as simple as a blown fuse

Then I would track down another chip/eprom to try as it may be fried if that doesn't work a whole ecu

Hi Redratbike, -

Thank you very much, I shall look at / try your suggestions , - appreciate that, - cheers.

Hi Redratbike,

Great news - I followed your helpful tips and Bingo ! - Fuel was being pumped so looked at first main (30 amp, greeen plastic top) fuse under seat, changed to one of the spares that was next to it and bike started and seems to be running fine and seems to have no issues - indicators, horn, lights, braking lights etc all seem to working ok. Phew , thank **** etc., - My mate says I was lucky ! - Many many thanks for your help, - I am so glad bike ok and glad joined forum.

Cheers redratbike, - BrianVtwin

Brian, I suggest that you spend a few hours to check out various threads in the forum, you will find a vast depth of knowledge /information about your Mille in here and will probably stop you from having "kittens" if or when anything else goes wrong in the future.
