Help with the TAC Reset

Guys, with the Bike off, my Tac reads 4500 rpm. How do I get it to reset to zero RPM? It's been setting for 6 months, I dropped it and it just got out of the body shop (sweet, looks like it just got off the showroom - 2003)

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can try disconnecting the -ve lead from the battery then if youre lucky when you re-connect it it may 'tick' back to zero, give it a few go's. If that doesnt work youll have to take the clocks apart (easy) and turn the needle back to zero. Ive done it myself when i had the same trouble. My needle had come loose.

Does it work normally when driving or is there an additional 4500revs on the clock at all times?

could be that the pointer needle is loose and shifted when you dropped the bike? Its just push in thing. Mine shifter when replaced battery easy fix.

Yes, it works fine, just set 4K too high. I had this problem once before and the aprilia tech at Pro Italia in Glendale CA (some 70 miles away) had it reset in a heartbeat. I just don't want to drive all the way down there so that he can punch a couple of buttons on the bikes computer to reset itself. But on the bright side, I am driving a new 2003 RSV Mille that looks better than when it was first sold. The thing is stunning and you guys are all the bomb.

Problem Solved ------

Guy,s good advice but there was a bit of a different solution. You can disconnect the battery and each time to touch the terminal, it will set the tac down a few thousand rpm. You can also do the same by pulling one of the fuses in the fuse box to tick off each thousand rpm until you get it perfectly re-aligned. You must then re-set the computer. Works perfectly now.
