Help tick over reads 5000rpm

hi guys just picked up my 02 millie on sat and iv just noticed the tick over reads 5000rpm but sounds like its around 1000rpm is this common fault is there a fix also how far is it safe to rev the bike iv notice the needle go off the clock nearly to the oil light :confused any help would be great

Needle has moved on the spindle. You need to strip the clocks and move it. (and threadlock it so it don't move again)

Alright mate,

It sounds like someone has had the clocks apart and put the needle back on in the wrong place, you cant over rev the engine as the limiter will kick in at around 10500. We are only based down the road on Aycliffe Industrial Estate if you want to bring it down I will have a look over it, give me a call on 01325778358 before to make sure I am there.

Another local rsv! Met a guy round the corner to me who's also got one.

Wouk be good to get them all at your open day Mark.

thanks for the replys iv actually got 1 of ur leaflets you gave to my mother in tesco when u very first opened im gonna pull the clocks apart today and have a look il post what i find if i get stuck il give you a ring were abouts in aycliffe are you based

Does your mother work in Tesco ?

We are just off Durham way south, in the new Evans units. Have a look down and see all the nice bits we can do for the RSV.

I live 10 mile outside Consett and I've also seen a couple of rsv's floating about up there when I've been up shopping. I'm guessing they're the shy retiring type as I haven't come by them on here....

yeah she does on the customer service i done the rev counter it was the needle sorted now i was up consett yesterday popped in roosters breakers looking for a k4 gsxr1000 pillion seat for me dad
