Hi All

My wife has a 2007 Tuono. It started playing up so we changed the battery from a 12v to a 14v & it was still running flat, We changed the reg/rec to a brand new one still running flat. We were told to check the Stator (3 yellow wires at 4000 rpm) & it is knackered.
I have been told that the one that comes with the bike is a 500w one & they burn out all the time so there is a conversation to a 360w one that Aprilia recommend ?
The help I need is.
1, Do you know if there is a recall on the parts by Aprilia ? to fix the problem.
2, Do you have the part numbers for the 360w conversation parts I will need to do the job.

Thank you all for any help

Aprilia changed to 380w part way through 2007... no recall for earlier 500w set up.
They reduced the wattage by replacing the Rotor (less power full magnet ). Changing the Rotor I believe is not a easy or cheap fix, so most just put another Stator on or have the original re-wound.

Thanks for the info.

Yep, it is not going to be cheap

A Aprilia bike shop we have found told us he can do the job & has the stuff on the shelf.

The 370w kit £750.00
The Gasket £20.00
The Labour £120.00
Then there is new oil & filter on top.

We did find a place that will rewind the stator for £126.00 But will not put a warranty on it as he know's how bad the Aprilia stator is.
We were also told that they do not last that long after being done ???

Thanks for your info.

Hmmmm what warranty will the Ape dealer give on that ?

Also, i would check what you are getting for the £750 - search part number aprilia AP0296987 And it looks like its more like £1,300 for the stator & Rotor ? (assuming of course ive looked at the right part !!!!) maybe he is giving you a discount cos its sat on the shelf ?

Even if they warrant for a year, cant see the point in all that ?

Gasket £7 (ebay)
Stator £100 - 150 ( Its a Rotax engine - plenty of other companies make them)
+ oil & Filter £50

JD

Change it 5 times any you mite still have change in ya pocket.

Thanks Felix
