I have a RSVR Factory 2005 that will not start, road it to the TT this year, first time there, but very wet on the way up...parked it up that night, got on the following morning and nothing!!!, It will turn over, the fuel pump primes but it does not self diagnose on the RPM counter, flicks to 1000 RPM then back to 0 instead of doing a full swop. I sent it to the local Aprilia dealer while on the island who had it 2 week's, riped my very exspensive alarm out out of it, pluged in his machine to diagnose the problem and charged me a kings ransom for his troubles then gave it back to me when I had to come back to main land without knowing what wrong with it. Also did'nt put it back togeter propaly and left fairing fixing of but thats another story. So before I send it to another dealer to be charged a fortune has any body else suffered the same problem and can point me in the write direction. As I previously mentioned I road it to the IoM in a terrential down poor but since then I have dried out everything, the instrument unit, ECU took the pannels of and left out in the sun for days, checked all the plugs, sprayed WD 40 onevery thing and still no joy.

Sorry to hear you were a victim like me of the dreaded main Stealers sorry meant dealers, i was a fanny and left mine out overnight (05too)and it pished down no suprise as it alway's rains in scotland ,anyway long story short my indicators stopped workin and after the same as yourself had a mate look at it and it turned oot to be the dash that was ****** now because yours isnt starting it might be something else have you took the battery oot and gave it a good charge? you never know check the battery terminals there famous for coming loose, apart from that theres loads of people on here that'll help so DONT take it to a dealer they will check the same stuff as you can ,depending where you are there could be someone nearby to you that has some knowledge of these bikes so post up and ask you never know and keep me posted m8 good luck....

Gday! I had a similar drama with my 05 RSV except the dash didn't light up at all. The fuel pump primed and it would crank over no worries, but just wouldn't fire! It ended up being the infamous 'white connector' which is located under the ducktail, tucked in and around the toolbox area. I ended up removing the connector all together and soldering the wires together. It fired up straight away! Maybe check this out, cos it may exhibit other symptoms, like the ones your experiencing. Good luck with it mate, owning one of these machines is great and all, but jeezus they're electrical systems are *********!

yeah as the man said, the conectors under the seat unit get very hot and a badly made, I replaced mine with decent stuff once I had a look at the melted brown mess on the right side under the seat unit
