help me get my ears off

Evening chaps..
Could do with a bit of advice if poss..

Want to take off the wind deflectors off my fairing..
They fixed in from the inside of fairing with a star washer.
Is there a particular tool for removing them, because i've tried
removing them but having a bit of a job without knackering them..

Would be great if anyone can give advice..

Hi fella,when i took my ears off i used a pallet knife,or any thin flat blade will do.just work the blade under the washer and prise it up a bit then keep moving the blade around the washer prising it up bit by bit.its a right pain in the arse but you will get there in the end.

I did mine yesterday, because I have some Carbon replacements.

I used two flat head screw drivers and worked them up. It is a right Royal Arse hole, but it is possible.

Just don't rush it or you will snap the mount and then you are fcuked.

for the info. will give it another go..
Think the deflectors spoil the lines of the bike.
Gonna see if i prefer it with them off.

when you prize the star washers off they will be bent. If you want to re-use them just straighten them in a pair of pliers. good as new!

Once I got the hang of it I got all 16 fittings done in about 15 mins.

Getting star washers back on is a piece of pi55....just get a small socket...about 6 or 8 mm (so it fits just nicely inside the washer lip) on a bar and just gently press home....Did my screen before my Germany trip and couldn't have been easier....Oh and gently does it prising them off is the way to go.

so you guys recommend putting the stock heads on, not replace them with nut/bolt combo aka something easier to deal with? not that i expect to be working with them a lot, just if they are already off why not?
