HELP!! Fork bushes needed for a 2005 RSVR

Hi,

Can anyone please help, my 2005 RSVR has been in with aprilia in Wallasey since the start of october, they have told me that the bushes in my forks need to be replaced as they are causing the seals to fail. The mad thing is apparently aprilia don't make these bushes anymore and they can't seem to source me any from anywhere.

I think my forks are the showa type (NOT OHLINS), black outer legs with chrome inners, with radial mounted calipers, if anyone has some bushes or knows where i can get some from, please let me know, as i want my bike back,

Thanks Geoff.

Geoff, Give Griff a ring at Aprilia Performance, I think someone might just be pulling your chain.

Cheers mate, will get the number of the internet, are they based in tamworth?

dude im not having it.......

ask them to show you how they checked the fork bushes..before you spend any money you may not need too!

if there is a issue with bushes you will see a clear movement between the for stancion and the slider around the area of the seal....it will rock backwards and forward ..not just up and down!

its more likely that theres a stone chip on the stancions somewhere, or possibly even dodgy seals or fitment!

let us know how you get on

I'd suspect another problem, one that they have caused and are trying to resolve without letting you know! Get in there and check the bike over, make sure it's not been damaged being in the workshop all that time. Even worse, ensure that your bike isn't being left out on the road all day every day (that line of bikes outside is usually customers bikes!)

I can personally vouch for a few local people Sammi at ZR (mobile repairs) Peter at Mersey Motorcycles (I always go there) and even I can help you if you've got space to work.

Glad to see another local ape though, we're multiplying slowly. Come say hi on northwestbikers.net if you fancy a ride out some time, or breakfast of a sunday.

Do you know what i was starting to suspect that they had done something else aswell, they haven't done a thing with it in over 2 1/2 months, i just keep getting the same answer, we are looking in to sourcing new bushes?? , i bought some new bushes from mark at extreme performance this morning, if they weren't re-fitting the seals for free, although it cost me £120 the first time i would have the bushes fitted by one of the guys you reccommended. I'm pretty sure sammi has worked on the bike for me before when i first bought it, he did a top job, i just assumed that being the local aprilia dealer they would to!

Will get on to that site, be good to get out for a blast when it gets a bit warmer, although i've a feeling it could get warmer before i get my back back.

Lol come join the fray, we're not a PC bunch so hope you don't get offended easily but we'd all come out to bat for one of our own so sure you'd have some support in getting a resolution ;)

Few of our lads use Sammi, he's a top bloke and I'm damn sure it wouldn't cost you anything like that much! Been wanting my bike worked on for a while but I'd only trust Griff for the sprag / tappets.

Since October !!

Defo sounds dodgy, i took my ohlins for a service to the guy who used to do my mots in warrington but he didnt leave an airgap so they were hard as **** and the seals leaked after a hard ride, took it over to kais performance in leigh and they sorted them out for me, had no issues since..

Amazing that Tash can get the bushes right away but the dealer cant for 2mths ... Phew

Not all that PC myself so sounds like i'd be in good company, thanks for the support, think i'll be using sammi myself in the future.

I know i can't believe a dealer couldn't source the parts anywhere in th uk, very odd, thought i would be in safe hands with them!!
