Hi Guys and Girls, I am having problems with starting my bike (2002 RSVR):no!

I had been away for a few days and yesterday I took it out for a spin and it started with no problem, this morning however was a different story... So I push the start button and the engine cranks over and normally it would start within 1 second but this morning nothing. I waited about 5 seconds and tried again still nothing:confused.

I know it's not the battery, I can hear the fuel pump when I turn the key and if it is the solenoid it wouldn't actually crank the engine over:dunno? I need some ideas please? Cheers

No not yet, I will when I get home as at work at the moment and thought if I can get a list of things it could be then I can start crossing them off. I did think that it might not have a spark as it didn't even try to start.

Once again, it's more than likely a low battery as older batteries will start to deteriorate with the onset on the cold weather. Get an Optimate IV ( not a £10 special from Aldi ) and keep it charged, then we won't have to keep repeating ourselves :thumbup.

The starter solenoid's probably getting a bit tired too by now, so do a seach on starter solenoid and all the info will be there

Check sidestand switch, Is the bike in gear?, check tipover switch, check clutch lever switch etc...

Good and Bad news. Good news, I checked the plugs they all spark just fine. So I put my bike back together tried to start it and it fired into life just as normal within 1 second and no problems this morning starting either.

The bad news, I still have no idea what the problem was.

thanks Guys for the advice given.
