Hi all,
I have a 2011 v4 which I picked up in May, I have covered just under 3000 miles since collection which includes a trip around Middle Germany last week including a lap of the ring.
Really enjoying it at the moment apart from a gearbox issue with 4th gear which developed last week

you are right .....short shifting is the answer.
My local dealers are trying to get parts supplied FOC from Aprilia.
 
Welcome, what rev range do you use the quickshifter from? if at all?

I have a Gilles Shaft support from an RSV4 which makes the gear pin much more rigid i.e. more positive shift.

I usually use it above 5k but gave it some stick on the ring right up to the rev limiter.
I think 6th and 2nd need to be replaced as it feels like the dogs are rounded off .....this could have been caused by a selector fork being out of alignment or jus me being a hooligan.
I have spoken to Nova who seem to think that the RSV4 gearbox cluster is the same and they can supply a gear set as supplied to A BSB team last year.
Waiting to see what Aprilia come back with as a good will gesture.
I have Sato rearsets on mine as I am a mature rider and my knees are u/s so the shift rod on mine is very short.
Would be interested in discussing various options with you regarding worthwhile upgrades.

Should be a warranty job. But yeah I think the bike defo prefers QS usage higher up the rev range and only on full gas or accelerating hard.

Not the first ropey gearbox and not the last, mental note taken about NOVA :thumbup mine gets hard use probably done about 20-25 track and race days and touch wood, no issues, I also replaced the shifter spring with one from the US which is stiffer over winter.

But the Tuono V4 has different ratios internally to the RSV4 i.e the size of cogs so be interested to hear what they say.

Thanks for the links

They Appear to be cheap mods and my g/box needs to come out so the spring installation shouldn't add too much labour cost.

The guys at Nova are very approachable and are passionate about what they do.
 
Yeah I think its the selector forks that bend slightly, which then causes the issue. Hopefully I never have to use them :thumbup
