Hello All,

I've been riding now for a little over a year. My first bike is a 2006 Hayabusa (I know, I know...). I love the versatility of my 'Busa, but am starting to maybe want something different. My bike is a great commuter and the power is obviously amazing, but the sporting ability of the bike isn't quite up to par (still probably better than most might think).

Anyway, I may have the opportunity to trade even for a 2000 Mille with around 26,000 miles. The bike was at one time a race back and was also recently recovered from being stolen and wrecked. It is now fixed and ready to go. The owner just bought a 2006 Tuono and is getting rid of the Mille and his Gixxer 750.

Does anyone have any direct comparisons of the 2000 Mille and the Hayabusa? Also what types of questions should I ask the seller of the bike to make sure it's in good working order?

Not sure about difference mate. I would like to get a busa at some stage, I am one of the few that like the look of them. I have rode a blackbird though, which I can imagine must be similar to the busa to ride and although it is obviously faster in a straight line than the Aprilia it just wouldn't turn corners. For sheer "grin factor" you will be hard pushed to beat the RSV:thumbup
 
Welcome to the Zone Duts. I think you will be asking for trouble buying an ex track bike which has also been stolen recovered too. RSV Mille's are pretty much bullet proof if looked after correctly however abused examples can take their toll on reliabiltiy. My suggestion would be to find a nice mint pampered example and you'll be laughing all the way fella. These bikes are hugely entertaining to ride and will be in totally different ball park handling wise than your Busa

an ex track bike thats been stolen and recovered.........now fixed......

if it were me my friend i may be tempted to look elsewhere for a mille!
the 'busa is an awesome bike , ive ridden a few of em in my time but they dont compare to the mille at all! its like chalk and cheese! its just not possible to compare them as they are two different beasts entirly!

the busa awesomely powerful , quite heavy, handle resonably ,warp factor fast , faster faster faster!!!!!!!
whereas the mille........its all about the delivery! the handling once youve got them right for you! the soul ,the character my friend, its addictive!


dude , get one ,you owe to yourself , but not that one!

For trade even, do you mean swap?

The 2006 Busa has got to be worth a lot more than a 2000 Mille - particularly the shoddy example you mention? :dunno

I'd want a much later Mille for that money/trade?

Listen to what people on here are saying, walk away from the ex-track/stolen recovered bike - it sounds like a nightmare :eek:

Milles are great bikes, but as others have said if abused/neglected can cost real money to put right.

It'll be a great, characterful ride, but maybe not as smooth as your Busa simply for commuting. It will however, be more than a bland, uninspiring IL4 experience on a snorting V-twin. :doug
 
You have a $7500 (guessing on condition)
And
You are looking at a $1500 - $2000 bike.

Sell your Busa and look for a clean 01-03 RSV and put some change in your pocket.

The Busa is obviously more comfy than an RSV.
 
Thanks for the responces guys. After riding my bike in to work the two mornings following my first post, I think I'm going to have to hang on to it. I would like to have a v-twin sportbike sometime in the future though, but it will probably be a Tuono instead of the Mille just for comfort reasons.

have a look at a suzuki TLR or TLS, v-twin fun, with less of the price.

As far as looks go, the TLR is probably my favorite bike. I forgot about having read all the bad juju on them though.
 
ehh...don't believe the hype. I rode a TLR for a number of years without incident. The rotary damper is garbage, but beyond that its a nice bike with a terrific motor.

The guys have steered you right! That's one of the things I really like about this forum. Lots of different aspects from folks who are very experienced on this kind of bike.

As the guys have said-the Busa is more powerful,but, much heavier, and can't handle as well. An Aprillia will make you a much better rider. You'll no longer dread corners, you'll start looking for them!!:devious:devious You'll get better at "reading" the road while you're riding because there's a lot more you can do instead of just being a "stop light bandit." Nothing wrong with quick, Dragracing is fun,but..there's so much more out there.

The Tuono is a good choice. Get one with as much suspension as you can afford. An "R" model perhaps. If you start with less, it's OK, but as you "grow" you'll want to start adding better quality suspension, etc., and it can be pricey doing it that way.

Ride smart. Keep the rubber side down & the shiny side up.
 
:eatcornhere here agree with legs, just part ex my tl for an 01 rsvr only 11,000 on the clock bide your time theres loads out there.

i've had 2 TLS's and its a load of **** really, if you cant handle something a bit lively its your problem i think... They lke to kick around a bit but in my opinon you cant beat the TL for the price. Whip the stock damper off, put on decent tyres and set the suspension up propery and they are mental
