Headstock stand

Hi all,

Does anyone here use a headstock stand on the RSV? I have an 06 RSV1000R and was wondering what the pin size is and which stands people have experience of, these folding ones look quite obstructive. I have a Harris rear stand so know they're good.

I have a folding one. They work ok with the right pin. Mine was from ebay. someone from Germany can`t remember name. Came with several pins but none fitted the mille. Got my brother to turn the27mm one down on a lathe. It is about 24mm now. Similar to this one.

Don`t know what you mean by `obstructive`. I managed to remove the forks etc using it without any problems. Hope this helps.

Thanks Teflon, i've been looking on ebay and have seen that German one. I have seen another in a picture somewhere that looked it was in the way of things but it probably wasn't being used properly.

It does seem that the Mille is neglected when it comes to compatibility. You can get almost anything that will fit a GSXR.

These folding stands do seem the way forward, i suppose it's just a case of getting a pin to fit.

Can someone please confirm headstock pin size. Is it a 24mm. Can't find it listed anywhere else on the net. My verniers are about budgeted so can't measure it. Want to be sure before I order a pin from maxon.

My Mrs bought me a headstock stand for my birthday. Wasn't till I went to use it that I found there's a big plastic tray you have to remove before you can even get to the stem.

That found its way to the bin. Other than that drill a big hole through it

I have Ricambi Weis stand for front.
And self modified adapter made out of a socket.

The pin itself came with the stand then just hammer long socket into it and fill the hole with heat glue, shave of the extra with grinder - voila not pretty, but works.

Works a treat like this. Used a 19mm half inch std socket hammered onto a slightly ground down pin with a 24mm outer diameter washer. Jobs a carrot.

I've just posted a video of my Mille with an Abba stand & Bike-It headstock stand (I think - it's the same as a Sealey one but cheaper) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERc9jnccnSo - The german ones on ebay don't have quite as much reinforcing if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure I use a ZX7R diameter headstock pin, I had to buy it on top of the stand as they are not a common size but I can double check if you like - don't be tempted to use a smaller pin though! It's a bit of a pain as you need to remove the fairing panel which sits over the headstock hole.... oh yes, that's already been mentioned!

Yes, that freaking plate. Any suggestions from anyone? How difficult is it to remove? Better to drill a hole in it? Looks like the pin size is 27mm, same as the zx7r indeed. Info taken from here
