Hi, has anyone fitted pyramid (make) tapper head stock bearings? did they fit ok? only I read somewhere the some of these aftermarket bearings didn't fit well and can't remember what make they were
Thanks

I bought a set of taper roller bearings off "markesman bearings" for around £30 and they were spot on, and he's a top guy and bike friendly so well worth a go (and British)

if you have never fitted taper head race bearings you will think they dont fit as there very tight .
if you have ignore below tips.

ive tried several sets from several manufactures and there fine (yes there are better but if there not greased properly it dont make a **** of difference)
good if they come with the lower seal as you will no doubt wreck the old one getting the old race off.

those bearings your looking at will be fine but if your a first timer a good tip after removing the old race is put the head stock in the freezer and warm the bearings

if you can find a suitable piece of pipe that fits the inner ring on the race and lower bearing so you can drift it home, that will help settling the new set so it fits snug.

after there on apply loads of general purpose grease re fit the stem and adjust so you have no free play but not tight.

after a few miles re check as they often settle after initial use .

Yeah as above :thumbup for fitting, to drift the lower race on I used one of the old bearing cups against the taper bearing & a piece of scaffold tube as a drift.
BTW I got my bearings from Marksman industrial as well, Good quality :biggrin but get the seal to go with the taper bearings from them as well as the original seals do not work with taper bearings

The set from wemoto comes with 2 seals, again i use the old cup to knock the new cup into the headstock
